With a wealth of experience, gathered over 25 years and centred around the skills of the blacksmith's craft, a diverse range of work is undertaken including the reproduction and restoration of historic wrought iron, to the creation of original sculptural pieces.
I am able to work in differing styles, from traditional to contemporary, on functional or purely decorative pieces. Commissions range from small scale domestic pieces to larger architectural works. All work is handcrafted and forged using traditional skills and finished to a high standard.
With an emphasis on hot forging techniques - working at the fire with hammer and anvil - each piece receives the same care and attention to detail, craftsmanship and finish.
Work is mainly carried out in mild steel, although wrought iron, stainless steel, copper and brass are also used.
Projects can be overseen from the design stage through to installation. I can work with you either on your own initial idea, or I can produce a design to meet your requirements.
I work from a well equipped forge just outside Malton in North Yorkshire. You are welcome to visit the forge to discuss any potential projects, but please contact me beforehand to check I will be available.
To commission a piece of work, please contact me to discuss details and receive a quote.
The gallery shows a selection of pictures to illustrate the variety of work I can undertake. This includes creating original artistic and sculptural pieces, producing or repairing functional ironwork as well as undertaking historical restoration and replication work.
